Diverse City Theater announces that excerpts from its August 2008 Mainstage production of NEA-honoree and recipient of AUDELCO August Wilson Award Cassandra Medley's provocative play, NOON DAY SUN, will be presented at Diverse City Theater Company's Summer Benefit Soiree tonight at 6:30PM at The Helen Mills Event Space & Theatre located at 137 West 26th Street.
The excerpt presentation will feature stage, film and television stars Ron Cephas Jones (Gem of the Ocean, A Raisin in the Sun), Melanie Nicholls-King (HBO's The Wire), Michael McGlone (Brothers McMullen, The Kill Point), and Diverse City Theater's Natasha Marco, Rando Falcon, Andrew Eisenman and Penelope Darcel.
ABOUT NOON DAY SUN: Wendy, whose secret birth name is “Zena,” is a negro-identified woman who is passing for white. Suddenly, on a “white hot day in August,” she crosses paths with her black husband from the past.
NOON DAY SUN is Diverse City Theater's August Mainstage Production at Theatre Row's The Beckett Theatre from August 11 to August 31, 2008. Read more ...
