PARIS AND ALEXANDER, a Greek play by Ioannis Limtsioulis and translated by internationally acclaimed playwright and director Anton Juan, will be presented on Tuesday, March 10th at 7PM at Theatre Row’s Studio Theatre located at 410 West 42nd Street in New York City. Juan also directs the two-hander play that explores the bond between two soldiers—a poet and a vegetable seller—who serve in the same war for different reasons and who are trapped in the conflict between hero and traitor.
ANTON JUAN has been knighted twice by the French government receiving the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres in 1992, and the Chevalier de l'Ordre National de Merit in 2002. In 1997, Juan received an Alexander Onassis International Award for Theatre, an honor conferred by the president of Greece. Today, he is artistic director of the Step of Angels Theatre, which he co-founded and is housed in the East-West Arts Center in Athens. In 2005, his play, "Taong Grasa," was presented by the Theatre Company Rinkogun in Tokyo. Juan is a native of the Philippines and taught at the University of the Philippines in the Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts. His book on Philippine Drama won the 100 Best Books of the University of the Philippines Press Centennial Awards in 2008. Juan serves on the board of the International Forum of Playwrights of the International Theatre Institute. He is currently a tenured professor at the University of Notre Dame and director of its Department of Film, Television and Theatre.
DCT GREEN ROOM presents original works in development in a staged reading format by emerging and established playwrights. Its purpose is to provide a creative venue for playwrights to hear their work and foster a creative collaboration among artist directors and actors.
