to Theatre Row with The First National Asian American Theater Festival

NEW YORK--Diverse City Theater Company ("DCT") announces its participation in the First National Asian American Theater Festival ("NAATF") which will be presented at various locations in New York on June 11 to 24, 2007. NAATF is organized by Ma-yi Theatre, Pan Asian Repertory and National Asian American Theater Co.
DCT's acclaimed 2005 production of Linda Faigao-Hall's THE FEMALE HEART, produced in association with Ensemble Studio Theatre and directed by noted Off Broadway director Jamie Richards, will reprise the show for the festival from June 16 to June 18th, 2007 at Theatre Row's The Beckett Theatre located at 410 West 42nd Street. Faigao-Hall's THE FEMALE HEART, originally commissioned by Starfish Theater Works and produced by Diverse City Theater Co., had its premiere at The Beckett Theatre in March 2005.

The play takes place in the early 1990's and tells the story of two siblings, Anghel and Adelfa, living in the so-called "Smokey Mountain," the infamous mountain of garbage outside Manila in the Philippines. Confronted by extreme poverty and her brother's ailing health, Adelfa agrees to become a mail-order bride to Roger Golden, a man from Brooklyn who is willing to pay for Anghel's medical treatments & for a price.
The play--which features Tim Davis*, Rona Figueroa* (Broadway's MISS SAIGON, LES MISERABLES, NINE and LENNON), Victor Lirio* and Bing Magtoto--will perform on:
- Saturday, June 16th at 8PM
- Sunday, June 17th at 2PM and 7PM
- Monday, June 18th at 8PM
